First off, let me acknowledge how blessed I am to even be able to do something like this when so many people suffered devastating losses this past year.
Let me give you some context. It was mid-pandemic and I was living right outside Washington, DC. My work had moved fully remote and my lease was coming to an end. I was paying $1500/ month to just LIVE. I think the pandemic taught us all a lot, collectively. One of my main takeways was the emphasis on living in the moment. We really never know what tomorrow brings, but Covid woke me the F up. I'm a very spiritual person as it is so when the universe gave me a sign as big as a global pandemic, I listened.
There was a lot that had to align in the universe for me to be able to take this trip. 1.) My work switching to fully remote so I had flexibility around where I could be. 2.) My parents letting me move home so I could save enough money to afford it. 3.) My body allowing me to be healthy enough to get vaccinatted and travel safely. 4.) My Dad letting me leave my dogs with him for 2 months so I had flexibility with what type of accomodations I could stay in. 5.) My mom leaving her job due to Covid, so I now had a partner in crime to go with. 6.) My boyfriend being supportive of me chasing whatever sets my soul on fire. All of these things combined, I knew I had to do it.
