Austin, TX

Luckily for me it was a Sunday, so I had full freedom to explore. We left Houston by 10 am and headed to Austin. The drive was only 2.5 hours, so we planned on getting lunch once we got to the city. I was excited for Austin. To me, it seemed like the city I would like the most (based solely on Tik Tok videos). We grabbed lunch at Abels on the Lake at Lake Austin. The food was great, and although they were understaffed (like everyone else currently), we only ended up waiting a half hour

When we made it to our Airbnb after lunch, we were pleasantly surprised (finally). It was a detached space in the back of a house in a quiet neighborhood. The entire vibe was newly remodeled Bali Hut, but the gem was the dog. With our new friend, we settled in for our first comfortable night in Texas!

The next morning my mom had plans to go exploring in the city with an old friend. By the time I was off, she knew exactly where we should go for dinner. We ubered to S Congress St where we ate at Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Pro tip: share the fries, they’re huge!

We weren’t in Austin long, it was another mid-week switch. The next stop was our last one in Texas…San Antonio! I had no expectations for San Antonio, which is probably part of the reason I chose it as one of the stops. For the first time, I was going in to a stop with a completely open mind.
